Information Security and Privacy Offices
The Information Security Office and the Privacy Office are two separate divisions that work closely together in the Compliance and Audit Services Department.
Information Security Office
The university's resource for guidance on information security
compliance. We are here
to help clarify what is necessary in today's rapidly changing technology
environment to keep electronic information as safe, secure and protected
as is reasonably possible. Depending on the type of data, compliance
with specific legal requirements such as HIPAA, FERPA, PCI, etc. may
also be necessary. We frequently work in conjunction with
the Privacy Office, others within the Audit Services and Compliance
area, I.T. Enterprise Security, and other professionals to provide
guidance and keep you informed of your responsibilities in these
areas. Contact the Information Security Officer at 502-852-0567.
Privacy Office
The UofL Privacy Office serves as a resource for University faculty, staff and researchers for matters relating to HIPAA privacy compliance. Our office provides general HIPAA training for workforce members of our hybrid (covered) entity, and holds oversight responsibility for monitoring HIPAA compliance in the University clinics. Contact the Privacy Office at 502-852-3803.
